I did two open houses at 26 Powell and there were 24 people visiting this hot downtown listing. Of the 24, 18 were Toronto Area folk. There was are lots of Multiple offers with a home downtown last week going for over 15% asking price.
Low interest rates in Canada are making us a cool place close to Toronto to live. The quality of life is fantastic! We are the Natural Birth Capital of Ontario (midwifes are loved here!!)
Linamar (Our largest Empolyer) is reporting Great Profits and University of Guelph is consistently hounoured as a top comperhensive University.
The University of Guelph has smartly branded itself away from just an Agricultural College to a comprehensive University that has that cross over appeal that is also adding to the Guelphness Buzz. Students after having tasted the Guelph vibe are returning to raise families in a safe and geographically central location. Retiries and sunbirds are coming because of good logistics to Niagara and the bridge to the USA.
The groove of Guelph is growing and the hype is reflecting in the kind of housing market we have in Guelph. Low inventory is driving prices up too. There is a window this week to get a good price on downtown homes especially when there is not enough homes for sale.
